I’m on support rotation this week, something all of us at Automattic do once a year. I decided to “be the customer” and use our tooling on my own site.
First, a small confession. I’d vibe coded a bunch of pages with ChatGPT as a test. Then left them there.
I asked Grok Bot to audit the site. Turns out, the main content was taking nearly 16 seconds to appear on mobile. I had no idea.
So I asked it to fix what it could using Jetpack. It proposed a plan, backed up the pages and got to work after I approved it.
- Mobile performance: 57 → 92
- Main content loading time: 15.9 → 2.7 seconds
- Homepage SEO score: 100
- 12 pages got updated titles and meta descriptions
Jetpack’s Image CDN resized my huge images. Site Accelerator served supported scripts and stylesheets through its global network. SEO Tools provided the title and description controls.
Grok Bot applied the fixes and checked the results. Two Jetpack Boost settings still need me to switch them on.
One conversation to find and fix problems I didn’t know I had.
Now it checks every Monday. Nothing changes without my approval.
