Are YouTube videos supposed to display the full width of a page when you add the link to a page? The video is displaying smaller than the full width of the page (no side bar) and setting the width using the embed shortcode is not making a difference. Thanks!

    Hi Pamela,

    A few things to check,

    1) Are you using the latest version of Canvas (i know there were some issues with older versions and youtube)
    2) Can you share a link to the page in question ?

    Thanks Jamie,
I am using the current version. The site I’m working on isn’t live yet, but this page on another site with the Canvas theme has the same issue:

    Hi Pamela,

Have you used the embed code method from youtube where you can set a custom width for the video?

    Hi Jamie,

Yes, I have used YouTube embed codes. I was trying to use the WordPress feature that only requires the link or shortcode. I understood that the video should fill the full width of the page using the link. Also, I should be able set the width using the shortcode. I thought you might know if something in Canvas was creating a limit.

    Thanks,
    Pamela

    Hi Pamela,

It depends if you are using the short embed code or the long embed code. i.e if you click on share in Youtube and then click on embed. If you click on embed then you can customise the size. Here’s an example http://www.pootle-band.co.uk/video/
