    Hi Jamie,

I love the simplicity and stunning mobile friendliness of a one page site.
    Whats your take ?
Can you recommend a good one page theme ?
What do you see as the pro’s and con’s of a one pager?

I know you love Canvas and me too I think :)
Im a big fan of the Woo Themes stuff, it all looks so nice. Would you go with Woo Themes ? Would you go with Canvas and try to make it a one page site? (is that possible?)

    Very Best Regards,
    Jake

    oooh sorry… PS/
I see the phrase ‘child themes’ a lot.
Am I missing something, whats the ‘child’ reference for?
    Are these themes for children?
    What gives :D

    Hi Jake,

We’ve got a new Canvas plugin and tutorial coming out tomorrow that we show you step by step how to make a really lovely one pager with Canvas :)

Child themes are not normally for children :) They are to quote from the wordpress codex

“A child theme is the safest and easiest way to modify an existing theme, whether you want to make a few tiny changes or extensive changes. Instead of modifying the theme files directly, you can create a child theme and override within.”

So you only need one if you want to modify css or php files within your theme.

    Make sense?

    Jamie

    Makes sense.. sort of.
So child themes are for people who want to make changes to the actual theme back end.
Not something for me to worry about :)

I blinkin new you would have a Cavas One Pager up your sleeve!! :)
We should call you Jamie Canvas.. I will look out for the tutorial.

Thanks very much my good man.

    Jake.

Jamie please can you direct me to the canvas one pager tutorial + plugin you mention above?

I asked about a one page site last summer. Is your answer still current?
Do you still use Canvas for a one pager or has something better come out?

    Best,
    Jake.

    Thanks Jamie :)
Do you still consider this the right way to go or would you now choose a one page theme from the off?

    Best,
    Jake.

    Hi Jake,

It really depends on the amount of flexibility you need going forward. Quite a few 1 page WordPress themes look great but are quite fixed in terms of layout options. So if it were me I would probably use Canvas and do it this way :)
