    Hi Jamie,

I’m loading a lot of pictures to my new site using NextGEN gallery, but I’m concerned that anybody can just drag them on to their desktop and use them for themselves. Is there anyway of protecting my pictures and stopping people doing this? Also how does the watermark work, nothing seems to happen visually when I apply it?

    Hi Dave,

There are wordpress image protection plugins you can get https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/image-protection. To be honest, I’ve never used them because at the end of the day some one can always just take a photo or screen shot of your pics.

Adding watermarks is one way to stop this – i’m not sure why it’s not working for you in nextgen.

let me know if it’s still not working,

    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,
I have thought about watermarks but to be honest they spoil the enjoyment for genuine users. I have put a copyright logo (small) on each picture. I have just loaded a plugin called ‘Content Copy Protection & Prevent Image Save’ from the wordpress.org site, almost full stars and it seems perfect. It stops you dragging the picture, right clicking, save as etc, brilliant. Having had pictures in the past stolen and used again (without crediting me) from flickr, I really wanted to protect them on my own site. Yes you can screen grab them, but they’ll never be as good as the originals.
    Cheers, Dave.
