I’m very happy with just a one column page for my website, but I do need a search box to allow customers to search for individual wines. As far as I can see I can do this if my website has two or more columns per page. How do I insert a search box with just a one column page?

    Hi Stuart,

The easiest way would be to use our PageBuilder plugin and add it as a widget.

    Does that make sense?

    Hi Jamie

I’ve got Canvass PageBuilder but it looks as if I can only add the search box to a two or three column page, and my pages have no columns.

    Hi Stuart,

At the top of your page add a two column row with Page Builder, shrink your right hand column to around 24% then insert your search box widget into the right hand box.

    This is how it looks

    Hope you understand this

    Hi Jamie

Sorry to be so inept but I really mucked up my Home Page when I tried to do this just now! I already had two columns with four paragraphs on it, headed WHAT IS THE WINE CLUB? WHAT DO YOU GET? WHO FINDS THE WINE? WHY ARE THEY SUCH GOOD VALUE? When I tried to insert a new two column row I lost the the existing bottom row with its two columns completely, in spite of clicking preview instead of update. Then, when I went back to re-edit it all the text for these two columns had disappeared. Luckily I had a copy and so I could re-enter it into the Pootle Visual Editor Widgets and restore it. However, I’m now very nervous about attempting it again…. I think as I am such a novice, I probably need more step-by-step advice on how to set this up to take a search box. Could I place a search box at the bottom of the bottom left column titled WHO FINDS THE WINES ?

    Hi Jamie

I’ve also somehow lost the four Featured Wines that used to sit at the bottom of the Home Page and I’m not sure how to get them back. Even if I can’t insert a search box, it would be great if I could retrieve this feature and get back to how the page was. Help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Stuart

    Hi Stuart,

It’s a bit tricky to advise via the forum for this one – do you want to book some consultancy to go through via skype?

    Jamie
