A quick, but probably no so simple question: Has anyone ever tried to batch create group pages in BuddyPress and also populate them with descriptive metadata from a csv file or similar?
My intention is to create about 400 groups for a project, each with a group name, and some fixed descriptive information relating to the group to sit in custom fields. I don’t have any need to automatically assign members to a group, just descriptive info about the group itself, privacy settings, forum enabled etc. I also have geo data for the location of each group so might look into whether I can incorporate this as well using something like GEO my WP.
Ive looked around for plugins without success, and at the moment I’m trying to decide over whether to just do this all manually, or spend time on writing a script…
Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

Just found this, which looks promising:
To quote from the notes:
CSV files may supply any of these fields: id, creator_id, name, path, slug, description, status, enable_forum, date_created, parent_id
CSV files must have ONE of these fields: slug or path
If you are trying to recreate a hierarchy, CSV files must have either path or all of group_id, slug, parent_idAugust 8, 2015 at 6:08 am #21734Jamie MarslandKeymaster

An update of sorts. BP Group Organiser looks good, but there’s minimal documentation and it doesn’t look like it’s been updated in a coupe of years. I got it to work eventually after lots of tinkering with the CSV file. The same author has written an interesting plugin for creating Group hierarchies too, although it is also somewhat out of date.
Anyway, I’ve been experimenting with
I prefer WP All Import, which has a much larger number of installs. I’ve only so far spent a couple of hours with the free version, but it appears to import metadata into almost any WP field (you have to set up the mapping yourself), plus it can also import users, and also imports any product info into WooCommerce. It also works with ACF too. Costs $99 / $139 / $199.
