    I’ve resolved the Gallery issue where only 2 images showing across the rows – solved by selecting a full width page option. I’m stuck (and so, it seems are WooThemes) on why individual Lightbox displays are not showing Portfolio item Title. Any thoughts please Jamie, given this is happening now on a very clean uncomplicated and up to date (WordPress, Canvas, Woo framework) site?

    Hi Jamie
    Will do, but interestingly I’ve just started build of a new site – early days , no custom css, no plugins, no child theme , no extra functions, very little content. In there I’ve built a small single portfolio with gallery/lightbox display. At WooThemes suggestion it’s using latest Canvas 5.0.10 and Framework 5.4.2.   WooThemes are investigating why, for them, this portfolio is behaving inconsistently across different setups  – Lightbox titles showing/not showing, and why the gallery is only showing 2 pictures (each width 210) across the screen. Link  http://www.bristolbrunellions.org.uk.server112.ukservers.net/testportfolio/

    Repost – original seems lost

    Until very recently my Portfolio Item Titles were showing nicely above individual Lightbox images. They have now disappeared. You’ll know I’ve been experiencing other Gallery issues, but can’t for the life of me see what has triggered this disappearance. For a while during development I was using this code in my Child theme style.css to prevent titles appearing but I deleted that many weeks ago and have made sure it’s not in the current Child theme style.css div.pp_pic_holder .ppt {     float: left;     position: absolute;     top: 5px;     z-index: -1; }

    Thanks  Paul Brooks

    Just occurred to me that you might also need child theme style.css and functions.php
    If you do please let me know and I’ll happily email them to you.  Paul

    Hi Jamie

    Many galleries across the site, all with missing Titles in Lightbox single image. Here’s one http://www.justsooccasions.co.uk/balloons-printed

    WooThemes have acknowledged problem with Portfolio displays in IE8, saying image sizes can be affected. They are also suggesting I’ve moved away from default of 3 images across screen so can’t guarantee results.

    I’ve gone for 6 images across using the Portfolio Settings > Portfolio Thumbnail Dimensions. As this is customisable I don’t understand how WooThemes can be critical of changing it. After some experimentation I found that changing image width from 140 to 141 pixels  solves my IE8 disappearing image problem, although image size problems at some IE8 View>Zoom settings persists.

    Thanks Jamie. Problem logged with Woo. My experience suggests this bug goes back to at least Canvas 5.0.5

    Thanks Jamie. Do you mean the live url picks up the website from the url where I developed/where the site lives? That kind of makes sense, but I’m not sure my paying client will be happy with it as a permanent measure. Also would that mean my dev url is what appears in browser current url?  Is my suggestion of a Home Page with a redirect during build, which is later supplanted by a real home page not viable? My instincts suggest yes, but is there some techie reason getting in the way?   Kind regards  Paul

    Sorted – the Canvas upgrade offers new ability to colour this text

    Canvas navigation styling allows the current menu item colour to be changed,which changes the background colour, but I can’t find out how to change the text colour on this button.

    I’ve now a handle on what General Typography does – used for text you don’t write.
    Something else to be aware of – using Canvas if you nominate a page as template Portfolio and have php to allow additional content, general typography seems to dictate the size of Shortcode Buttons, regardless of which size you nominate when setting the Button up!

    I’ve half-sussed the font issue. It’s Canvas / Theme Options / Post Styling / Post Text Font Style that dictates para text in Pages, which seems counter intuitive.
    I still don’t understand what Canvas / Theme Options / General Typography / General Text Font Style controls – anyone any ideas please?

    I’m missing 2 basic things here.I’m using Woo Canvas, and setting the Canvas>Theme Options>General TypographyGeneral Text Font Style font , but whatever I set here has no effect on my text.
    I’ve proved that these settings do have an effect by nominating my text as H6 successfully, but if I do this I lose a div I’ve placed around my text so that I can define a background colour.

    Hi Jamie
    Looking around for an answer on this I came across Fresh Canvas. Cribbing from that I’ve replaced my 2 import statements picked up from some Woo help with this –
    @import url(“../canvas/style.css”);
    and all is now working fine

    Thanks Jamie
    I’ve reseleted my menu as Primary. This solved the 2 x Home, but my menu has become vertical again, with bullets and underlines and >> indicating subs. The order and structure is fine and the drop downs act as fly-outs.
    All is correct if I don’t use a child theme and use custom css with exactly the same css code, but I feel now I’m not far away from a solution and would really like to understand the styling issue and how to use a child theme correctly. Would it help if I emailed you the site url/login? It’s not ready for public yet.

    Hi Jamie
    Bit of a saga this afternoon…I noticed a ” missing above on an import statement, so put that right. Having seen some examples on the net I also played with including and excluding brackets around the import file names, settling in the end on no brackets. I tried the child theme again, and the menu was now horizontal and colours as required but the sub items were at top level in menu. Up to now every page was defined as No Parent. Clutching at straws I defined the subs as having appropriate Parent “…”. This made sub items appear correctly below the right parent, but the left to right sequence of top level items was wrong – didnt reflect the sequence defined in Appearance>Menu. Time to clutch at another straw – I changed all the page order values from 0 to the order the menu items should be in, and voila – this put the menu sequence right. I’m now left with just one problem throughout the above – Home appears twice on the menu. There is only one page called Home. If I use Appearance>menu to delete Home, still 2 persist.I’ve tried deleting the entire menu and rebuilding it but still have 2 Homes. If I revert to canvas as my theme I only get one Home on the menu. I’d appreciate your thought on that, and whether all of the above were necessary – too many variables, too little knowledge to be sure here. As a BTW is the import of canvas/css/reset.css necessary? – I can’t find the file using ftp on host.
    Thanks
    Paul
