I’m building a website for a customer who wants to be able to take Credit Card payments via their website not just via PayPal. I like the look of WorldPay (http://www.woothemes.com/products/worldpay/) but I have never used it before. Can anybody recommend how to use it or are there better alternatives?
Many thanks in advance.

Are you using WooCommerce ?

Yes I will and I’ll be using a woothemes template.

I would definitely go for Stripe. It is amazing. I have just completed a successful project with it and highly recommend it for:
– Low processing costs
– No need for merchant account
– Great testing process
– Great WooCommerce integration
If you want maximum hassle, horrible documentation, high fees and no support – then go for WorldPay! ; )

Thanks Nick, I’ll take a look at that. I have set up a few Ecommerce websites with WooCommerce and up until now my customers have been happy to have any credit card/debit card payments taken via PayPal.
Will I need a HTTPS:// site to use Stripe as I didn’t when the payments were made via PayPalApril 3, 2014 at 8:44 am #12395
Yes – you will need SSL. I always find it’s easiest to go through whoever is hosting your site. For SSL you need your own IP which if you are using shared hosting can sometimes be an issue.
Hope this helps!

That’s not a problem with my host. I can sort all of that out thanks. So In very basic terms the approach would be:
Purchase hosting with SSL and point named servers for domain name to new host
Install Canvas, WooCommerce on new WP install
Get Customer to create an account with Stripe
Add Stripe plugin to WP.
Offer Credit Card Payment as an option (How does this connect to Stripe)

The Stripe plugin is very good and does everything for you. It uses test and live API codes that you get from Stripe to integrate. This makes testing really easy…April 10, 2014 at 8:48 am #12471
Can you advise which plugin I should be using and are there any issues with UK based companies?
A link to any site that can help would be great thanks.

I used the official WooThemes one here: http://www.woothemes.com/products/stripe/

Just coming back to this project after some delays crept in. Can I just ask in line with SSL did you choose the HTTPS protocol for your new domain as oppose to HTTP?
Keith.April 30, 2014 at 4:15 pm #12960
Yep – that’s right. What normally happens is that you get a mirror of your whole site – so it’s works in http and https. Then when people hit the checkout pages etc, you make sure they are using it on https.
Hope this makes sense!

I know both plugins Stripe and WorldPay.
If you are interested, here is the website where I purchased my plugin:
I’m very pleased with their service.
