    Hi Jamie,

Thanks for a great site and resource for folks like me getting into WP and needing profession support!

I’ve got a ecommerce site (using Canvas and WooCommerce) which will eventually have 2000+ products. Some of these products can be used with other manufacturers products. These are dental implant products and for simplicity I’ll refer to them as “bases” and “tops”. I need a plugin/extension that can narrow down criteria for the “bases” from a number manufacturers, then that manufacturers products, then select available lengths, and finally available diameters. (These products are NOT being sold on this site.) The final search result will display the appropriate “top” which are in my catalog.

I purchased Woothemes extension Product Finder but am not able to figure out to make the search criterias narrow down results through Manufactuer->Product->Length->Diameter. Plus it’s pretty ugly! :-)

Can this plugin be customized? or are there any other options you can think of?

I have found a website that has the feature I’m looking for and can forward that info if it would help?

    Appreciate you time and advice!

    Jill

    Hi jill,

Thank you for the feedback on the Academy :)

It the first instance it’s probably a good idea to contact the plugin author directly re your customisation – as they will have a better idea on how it works ‘under the hood’.

Let me know how you go,

    Jamie

I thought I’d follow up and let you know that I did contact WooThemes about the Product Finder plugin. It is NOT the best solution for what I needed and Layered Navs were suggested.

I’m using WooCommerce Layered Navs now to handle the filtering and this approach seems to be doing the job.

    Hi Jill,

Thanks for sharing – I really like to see what you ended up with, can you share the link?

Here’s the link to the Shop page, Jamie. What I’d like to do next is create a border around those Layered Nav elements. I have minimal html/css experience. Any thoughts?
