I have a client who wants to update his existing website, and we are going to change it over to a WordPress platform (obviously!). However, he wants to keep the current site live whilst we develop the new site though.
How would we go about setting up an environment where I can work on developing the new site through the WordPress interface, if I can’t/don’t want to access the current hosting yet?
You can set up a temporary url with your hosting company. Ask them and they should be able to help you with this. Just build the site on this temporary url and then when you have finished it point the domain name to the temp url ip address. Again the hosting company will help with this.
I’m going to do a tutorial on this one – because quite a few members are asking the same question :)
