    Hi,

I want to add a background image to my Home page only, and a colour background to the other pages. Do I need a special plugin for this – otherwise all my pages end up with the same background?

And what about the size? I’ve played with General styling in the Canvas settings and even when I scale the image to a width of 960 (my site width) it comes out much wider.

    Any help much appreciated!

    Hi Isabelle,

The easiest way would be to use our PageCustomizer plugin for Canvas. Here’s the link http://jamiemarsland.wpengine.com/shop/page-customizer-for-woothemes-canvas/

    It’s very powerful :)

    Hi Jamie,

I bought Page builder the other day – can this not help with the background image?
And will either of these plugins have the ability to have a background pic at just the site width?

    Thanks
    Isabelle
ps even though I have ticked the ‘notify me of follow-up replies via email’, your response did not come by email.

    Hi Isabelle,

With page builder you could set a background image for a row – so if your row was the whole of the page then yes it would act as a background image for the page.

Do you have a screenshot of the layout you a trying to achieve?

    Hi Jamie,
I’m using rows in Pagebuilder – but not sure I can embed the whole page in a row as well??
Here’s the screenshot of what I’ve built so far (I’ve used 2 rows for the body content).
I want the background picture to just be the dimensions of the content (or perhaps with a bit of extra width) but can’t seem to size the photo.
I put this background in using Canvas>General styling tab..
    Thanks

    Hi Isabelle,

Sorry to ask but do you have a mockup of what you are trying to achieve – it would really help me visualise the output you’re looking for?

    Thanks,
    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,
Yes I do – but can’t see how to attach a jpg to this message. Also all the wysiwyg tabs on this message service are blank – I can’t see what they say!
The mockup I have is pretty much the same as the link I sent though.

    Hi Jamie,
I’ve now bought Page Customizer and put the background image in. I’ve set it to ‘cover’ but somehow there’s a band at the bottom of the page that is not covered.
Could you tell me how to fix this?

    Many thanks,

    Hi,

Looks like you have a 1px top border on the footer – you should be able to change this in canvas settings,

Hi – not the one pixel white line but the large space at the bottom of the page appearing in light blue (I have a light blue background on other pages…) instead of being covered by the background image – attached screenshot.

    Hi Isabelle,

Apologies for the delay – I’m struggling to recreate the issue. Is background image size definitely set to cover?

    Hi Jamie,
    Yes it’s set to cover.
Could it be that the image isn’t tall enough? it is Dimensions: 4000 × 2824 (which is huge! too big?)
But that doesn’t make sense either because my content stops way before the thick blue band at the bottom… :-(

Actually I’m not seeing the blue bar at the bottom when the page loads?

What browser are you viewing in?

It’s only visible when I stretch my browser window full height, but is fine on full width. The issue also occurs in Chrome and IE.
