We have a site created after your one day course, currently hosted with Heart on their business package (3 site hosting package).

We now want to copy this site (keeping the original site as-is) to one of the other Heart host packages so as to be able to modify and build a new site based on the original framework. What is the best way to do this?

    Background:
    1. In the Heat so called business package the new site (2/3 or 3/3 in their package) is under the original listed domain. We set up the path and a database.
    2. We use Back-Up Buddy and thought their migration package would do this but it seems not to transfer all the files and has repeated errors. We’ve made over 6 attempts and are getting nowhere.

    Hi Chris,

Have you ask Heart whether it is possible to do the migration without moving any files – they might be able to do this for you?

    Hi Jamie,

Thanks for the thought, I have exchanged about x5 mails/tickets with them and regret they are not willing to do anything meaningful (much less helpful than I remember them last time I asked). They just tell me files are missing (from the back-up buddy xfer, but not how to fix…)

    Hi Chris,

Have you asked them about just switching the site to your new Heart Internet account i.e nothing to do with Backupbuddy at all?

Yep and extract from response below…

“However, as it is a WordPress site then I would recommend contacting the WordPress support/forums or simply searching online because there will be other things to take into consideration too such as updating the sites URL, to the reflect the new domain name being used.

This is not something we can assist with as we are unable to provide any coding/script/software and web site support as we are not a team of developers. However, you can find many free resources simply by searching online and here are couple of links to get you started:-

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_UR

Then went to web wsearch which is how we got to recommendation of using BackupBuddy but this seams not to work.

    Hi Chris,

I still think this may be the wrong question.

What you are trying to do (if i understand correctly) is to move your website to your other Heart account and not migrate the website. Heart may be getting the wrong end of the stick here.

    Hi Again,

I regret not, the original request (to them) was as below, based on their so called business package of x3 site hosting, where we had taken up x1 on leadershipagenda.org

“Help please, (DIY level, only, IT’er) we are small non profit with business account with you. Currently
we have small site with hosting set up with you on http://www.leadershipagenda.org.

Can you please advise how to/or help with:

    1. Set up hosting on http://www.innovationreboot.org (we have domain with you and understand we can have x2 sites in the package).
    2. Easily transfer or copy the entire word-press site (as-is) from its current place at leadershipagenda.org to an identical set up at innovation reboot.org.”

Just to reclarify if needed: leadershipagenda.org is an existing site we want to keep, we want to build a new site (innovationreboot.org) and had hoped we could start this by setting up an identical mirror of leadershipagenda and then modify it.
