    Hi,
I’ve built a site in wordpress and would like to build a new site (different domain) using exactly the same layout – what’s the easiest ways of doing this?
    Thanks,
    Isabelle

    Hi Isabelle,

Yes you can do this with Canvas :)

In your WordPress dashboard click on Canvas. Now under Canvas menu on the left you will see Backup Settings. Click on this. Now you can download your Canvas settings into a file. Then you can reupload this file to your new website (with Canvas) and bingo your design will be duplicated.

Let me know how you go,

    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,
Just to let you know – this seems to have worked pretty seamlessly… thanks!

    Hi Jamie,

I’ve got the same situation again.
However this time the website already exists as a wordpress site (not canvas).
I need to rebuild the website (using the same layout as per previous query and also in canvas as previous ones).
The old site needs to stay live until the new site is ready.
What’s the best way of going about this? Up until now I’ve been building using the domain name http://www.domainname/welcome.org and then doing a redirect to http://www.domainname.org, when it’s ready.
But will this work in this case?

    Help much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Isabelle

    Hi Isabelle,

In my view the easiest way to do this is to install a new WordPress website and build that site on the temporary url that comes with it. I’ll be doing a tutorial on this, this weekend :)

Great. Does that mean I’ll be able to watch the tutorial this weekend (is so when?) or just that you’re putting it together this weekend?
    thanks.
