    Hi Jamie,

I’m building a website on Canvas for the company I work for and I’m having trouble creating links on a page to external websites.

I have a list of website addresses and I would like to create an individual link to each of them that will open in a new tab/ window – In edit page I have tried highlighting the website address and using the ‘link’ button which initially works but the link seems to disappear as soon as I move on to the next one – I created individual link to each of them before I realised this was happening and when I published the page only the last one on the list was clickable (very frustrating!!) – is it not possible to have several external links on one page?

    Thank you

    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

    Sounds a bit strange :(

Yes it’s possible to have more than one external link on each page – you can have as many as you like. Can you share the link to the page?

    Hi Jamie,

    Thanks for replying so quickly

I’ve just updated the page because I wanted to change some of the text and in doing that I now seem to have lost ALL the links!

    Here’s a link to the page http://2012.archersmarquees.co.uk/links/

Do you need my login details for the dashboard to be able to look at it properly?

Thanks again, your help is much appreciated

    Hi Jamie,

I think I might have sorted it! I’ve put the website addresses next to the company names rather than below them and I seem to have been able to create the links and publish them without losing them – I have no idea why that has made a difference but it has!

Can I ask another question please? I have quite a lot of content on some of my pages so viewers of the website will have to scroll down a lot…is there any way of splitting this content across two pages and having a ‘next page’ button (without creating a separate page and putting it in a drop down menu)? Sorry if I haven’t explained that very well – here is a link to our current website that I am replacing so that you can see what I’m trying to achieve http://www.archersmarquees.co.uk/marquees.html

    Thanks

    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

Good stuff – although that does sound a bit odd. Are you using multi-site by any chance?

Re the next page question: I personally wouldn’t worry about having a long scrolling page – they are becoming more and more common and are quite fine from a usability point of view (especially with the advent of tablets).

One good option might be to use the content toggle or tabs toggle functionality that comes with the wooframework (found in the little woo menu in your post/page edit screen)

    Hi Jamie,

    No I’m not using multi-site.

Thank you for your advice about the page content
