I’d like to set up a creative writing website. I have tried downloading some pages from a film script but the format goes all over the place. How can I keep it intact and exactly as I wrote it? I use Final Draft with its own inbuilt formatting.January 6, 2013 at 7:00 pm #7463
Could you provide the link to your site please :)

Haven’t got a website yet – thought I’d walk though the recently acquired tutorials first…. I did try to import and also cut and paste my screenplay in the past, when I was ploughing through WordPress alone before I joined Pootlepress, but the formatting got lost and the text was a mess.January 7, 2013 at 1:35 pm #7465
Ok I think this will need some investigating as I haven’t used Final Draft myself :)
One option is that you could upload as a PDF but this may be not what you are looking to do?

Well, the plan was to upload 10 or so pages per week (inc pictures and possibly music). It means I would be constantly adding to it. Which would mean it would have to jump in and out of PDF documents and that wouldn’t work.
I really hope it can be done :/January 8, 2013 at 3:59 pm #7469
From Final Draft: Your best bet would be to export your script as an html file to work with.
On a Mac:
Open your script and choose Save As. Then choose “HTML document” from the File Type pull down menu at the bottom of the pop up window. Click Save.
Do you think this would work? If so it might also be useful info for others. AnitaJanuary 8, 2013 at 4:06 pm #7470
It’s worth a go….however your WordPress theme might not keep the formatting and styling. Let me know how you go :)

but, but….. I don’t wantto set up a website, and pay for a host etc – if it won’t work…. One more thing, how do I put my own picture at the top instead of the default theme? (I’m sure I’ll get over these teething problems soon!)January 8, 2013 at 4:15 pm #7472
If you email me the html file I will try it out for you …email@example.com
Re your own picture on the top …this depends on what WordPress theme you are using to build your website,

Script created with Final Draft by Final Draft, Inc.
Hi Jamie,Hope all is well with you. Here is the same scrap but cut and pasted. The font has changed!
INT. SMALL CLASSROOM – DAY
Twenty students sit in rapt attention. A handsome PROFESSOR
scrawls ‘FORMATTING” across the blackboard.
CHARLIE suddenly throws his hand up.
How do you handle phonecalls?
The professor walks to Charlie’s desk
The above is a scrap of nonsense to show inbuilt formatting
in Final Draft that I am trying to retain when transferring

This is the HTML file dragged onto here…..not sure what you’re seeing!January 11, 2013 at 11:39 am #7478
The formatting as well as the font changed but the font re-arranged itself once submitted. Sorry if I’m confusing you. My hair is also standing on end!January 12, 2013 at 12:16 pm #7485January 12, 2013 at 12:54 pm #7497
