I would like to create a front page (home) with product and post images in a masonry layout using the Canvas 5.4.1 theme. How would I go about this? Is there a plug-in? Or would I have to *gasp!* delve into CSS editing?
Many thanks in advance for your thoughts,October 4, 2013 at 1:40 pm #9379Jamie MarslandKeymaster
Yes this would probably need quite a bit of work but it’s a very nice idea. I’ll take a look around and see if there are any non-dev solutions :)

Hi again Jamie and thanks for your reply.
Here are some examples of the look I’m hoping to create: http://netfruits.com/2013/05/wordpress-masonry-theme-collection/
Specifically, I’d like to have an interesting animated masonry block gallery that links to various products as well as posts. Prior to buying Canvas I fiddled around with Elegant Themes Origin theme, but ultimately, I wanted an e-commerce site and there seemed to be too much re-coding to accomplish that. Additionally, I really like the bricks and mortar look as opposed to the grid. In Woothemes I like the Sentient (mortar grid with products) and Briefed (mortar grid with posts) but again, I thought I’d probably have more leeway with coming up with exactly what I wanted with Canvas.
So far I’ve been able to come up with a test gallery on my front page using the jQuery Masonry Image Gallery plugin with the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin, but I have no idea how to have these photos and graphics link to the product and post pages they correspond to plus the images are too small. Additionally, I don’t want so much white border space between the gallery images.
Gah! I hope I’m not being too picky and ambitious for my first foray into web design!
The bright news is having found your tutorials. They’ve been very helpful in sifting through the enormous amount of information out there…much of it seemingly conflicting! Thanks again for your help!October 6, 2013 at 5:33 pm #9384
Just to let you know…I solved the problem with a fantastic gallery plugin called PhotoMosaic for WordPress. Thanks again for your support earlier.October 7, 2013 at 8:10 am #9386Jamie MarslandKeymaster
Great news :)
Does it support WooCommerce product listings in the gallery?

Seems to, although I seem to be having an issue with the lightbox opening to the entirety of the product or post page instead of an enlarged photo. Hmmm…will let you know…I’m sure it’s my “operator error!” :-)
It’s quite a nice product with many options, though. Am very pleased with it overall.
