I’ve been tasked with backing up a site and exporting the database to a PC.
Any pointers on how i can achieve this? There are a few issues…
1 – The current host has done bust, so is not contactable – servers due to go off imminently.
2 – New host (swgfl) will not take responsibility for any damage – they insist that the site is fully backed up before transfer. The primary school concerned HAS to use the South West Grid For Learning…
3 – The wordpress code for the site has not been upgraded for several years (same for plugins) and i was unable to install “backup wordpress 2.2.4”
I am reluctant to try to do backups while the site is not backed up…
I have exported the site (dashboard/tools/export) but don’t know where/how to back up the database to my PC. Also guess i need to back up the theme? – Dont know where this option is – they use 2010
I have tried to import the site to my test site you gave us as part of the course, but i am unable to do this. Any ideas?
