Thanks Jamie, with your help I got there in the end. Now I just have a couple of final things which I can’t work out how to do. Would you mind checking the site http://www.deltafluidtechnology.com and telling me what I should do.
When you click on the ‘home’ menu – this page is obviously seen as being different from my other pages, because the formatting is different, and the posts (and archives and meta on the right) are still there, and I can’t get rid of them like I could in the other pages.
I want to get rid of these, but I like the formatting (ie; heading and text to the left) of that page. How can I apply that formatting to the other pages?
Finally, clicking on the main image takes you to a ‘home/about us’ page, and clicking on the menu ‘home’ does the same thing. I don’t need 2 pages doing the same thing. What do I do about that?
We just need a simple site for now and if you can answer these, then we are done and it would make me very happy to have achieved my goal, with help from you! Thanks. AnnaOctober 8, 2012 at 6:25 pm #6807
It looks like your Home menu is linking to a post called http://www.deltafluidtechnology.com/comments/. If you link you home menu to your home page rather than a post it will hide archives and meta.
Let me know if that works,

I tried to edit that page and change the permalink to /home, but it puts home-3 instead and I can’t change that. So it hasn’t sorted it, but maybe I am doing the wrong thing.October 9, 2012 at 7:52 am #6812
It looks like you have multiple pages called home. This may be causing the confusion. If you list all your pages you should be able to see this.

Thanks, I have finally sorted this out. But I still have a ‘recent posts’ box on every page. How do I get rid of this? Thanks. AnnaOctober 9, 2012 at 4:37 pm #6820
Do you mean you have a comments box on every page?
If so, you can turn comments off in the Page edit screen. Make sure you have comments turned on in screen options (top right in your dashboard)

No, it is a box that says ‘recent posts’, on every page. It seems to be because I am using the showcase template, because when I use default template, it goes, however I used showcase because it has the formatting that I want. Take a look at the website http://www.deltafluidtechnology.com. Do you think I can get rid of it? Thanks. AnnaOctober 10, 2012 at 8:30 pm #6842
If you are using the showcase template then you would need some custom css to hide the recent posts text. This should do it.
Take a look at my woodojo tutorial #2 (custom css) to see how you can add the code http://www.pootlepress.co.uk/2012/09/woodojo-from-woothemes-an-indepth-video-walkthrough/

I have yet to check out this tutorial, but isn’t woo themes something I have to pay for?
The photo in the header on our website, obviously appears on each page. But can I display a different photo on each page? – (in the same place at the top of the page).
Thanks. AnnaNovember 20, 2012 at 1:12 pm #7243
Sorry for first question, on further investigation, it doesn’t look like I have to pay for it.
Second question still applies though! ThanksNovember 20, 2012 at 1:57 pm #7244
Yes if you set the featured image on a specific page it should work.
