Can I have advise on the correct pixel sizing for full page header pictures in canvas please. Also for the sliders, the full page size pixels.
I’m using the new canvas plugin page builder and customiser so how do you work out picture sizes within layers when using columns of different sizes.
I’m trying to work it out so I get the best optimisation and also I’ve read that you now have to take account for the different types of screen sizes in use.
Also, I’ve seen in some of your training videos that you have put 350pixels as a width in the slider and then clicked on the full page and your photo looked great on both sizes so when uploading your photos into WordPress what sizes are you using.

    Hi Tracy,

I’ll try to put a tutorial together on this as it’s a common question.

With Canvas you can change the width of the layout of your website so it somewhat depends on what setting you have.

As a general rule your website will be approx 1000 pixels wide so you need to make images this width if you want them to be full width.

Let me know if that makes sense,

    Jamie

Yes Jaimie this does make sense. Although this is where I get confused as you are saying 1000 pixels wide for a full width site but I have seen larger written down as a full width site….I have even been told for my other business website (which is not a wordpress site) that I have to use 1200 Pixels. I have even read that I should be using up to 3000Pixels to take into account all the various screen sizes????

So YES It would be great to have a tutorial on this as I have spent weeks asking my associates and everyone seams to give different answers but the underlying thing is always …well it depends on the size of your site… which is understandable but I am trying to work out what sizing I should have considering the different types of screens available now and the different types of photos and graphics that can be used…..and I do understand the differences between files types and when to use which.
I just have spent weeks trying to work out what size I should be putting blog photos onto my site at and trying to work out how big I can go up to. What size I should be using for the canvas slider????

My other question now is that shouldn’t Woo Canvas have a standard sizing given that we are all dealing with the same screen sizes out there???
Or am I just not getting it?

    Hi Tracy,

Phew lot’s a great questions there.

The complexity (and the good thing because of it’s flexiblity) with Canvas is that you can use a boxed layout (i.e fixed width) and then choose the width of your website – so it’s a bit tricky for WooThemes (or me) to say what size slider you should be using. i.e if you fix the width of your boxed layout to 1000 pixels then you should ideally be using a pic 1000 px wide.

But I hear you and I’ll try to get a tutorial put together :)

    Hi Jaimie

Just to add to this thread…again..LOL!
I have found that Woo canvas says its full width site is 1600px so if I want to put a full width picture into the site or have a full width background inside certain rows then I use pictures 1600px? Then if I split my row into 2, 3 or 4 I divide the pixels of any pictures I want to use by the number of columns I have split my rows into…..
Am I on the right track?

So as long as I know the pixel width of the actual site then I can do the above and I should be on track?

Correct me if I am wrong…..Please!

would really love that tutorial you were talking about… another PLEASE!
