I have just watched video 13. Tracking your visitors with Google Analytics.
The video seems to get stuck a few times? could by my end (streaming issues?)
but anyway my question is when I click on the link to create a new account I seem to get a different page to what is shown in the video
This is what I get, https://www.google.com/analytics/web/provision?et=&authuser=#provision/CreateAccount/

The final button at the bottom of this page says “Get Tracking ID”
so I think I might be going to the wrong page??
(Unfortunately I can’t quite make the URL displayed in the video)

    Hi Caroline,

That looks ok to me :)

However you don’t need to get the tracking id.

In your WordPress dashboard Just install the Google for Analytics plugin from Yaost http://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/.

Then click on where it says “authentic with google” . At this point it should prompt you to choose which google analytics account you want to track.

Let me know if that makes sense,

    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,
After a lot of head scratching. computer re-starting. watching the video again and again. tea. chocolate biscuits. I got there! I had to manually enter my UA code to get the plug-in working? I must have gone about it the very long way.
    All sorted now. thanks:-)

    Hi Jamie

I’ve was just signing up to analytics’s as described using Joost’s plug in but got the following message: We are unable to verify the name associated with this application because it runs on your computer, as opposed to on a website. We recommend you do not allow access unless you trust the application.

Am I giving Joost access to my PC and what do you suggest? Apologies if this is a dumb question.

    Regards

    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,

    Don’t worry, not a dumb question :)

I’ve never actually encountered this message so I’m a bit stumped. Have any other members seen this one?

    Jamie

    ps will keep thinking
