Advice on exact choices to create an ideal platform for transformation from existing static HTML site to a modern responsive one (costs aside) – i.e. theme to use, plugins to add, your expertise to make this a solid evolvable foundation.
Impressed by your tutorials I have joined the academy to migrate an existing site from static HTML (dreamweaver) to a responsive site including an integral woocommerce shop. I see now that most everything is focused toward the use of the Canvas theme. My current site is top or 1st page on google and I need to keep that presence intact :)

    Hi Michael,

    Here’s a starter for 10

    1) Themes – either WooThemes Canvas or WooThemes Storefront
    2) Plugins – pootle page builder https://wordpress.org/plugins/pootle-page-builder/ or Canvas page builder
    3) Yoast SEO
    4) Ninja forms (if you needs forms)
    5) Vaultpress – for backing up your website
    6) Woocommerce shortcodes – to give you more flexibility on where you place products
    7) Maybe 301 redirect plugin – if you are changing page titles – but ideally keep them exactly the same

    Hope that helps :)

Thanks Jamie, that sounds fine. The responsive evolution of my site does not have to be exact to that which currently exists, I just wanted to be clear about what I needed to provide a sound platform for moving into the future. I think I will go for the Canvas theme and your Pootle press package of plugins to act as the basis.

Thanks. I’m sure you will hear from me again as I get into the business of revamping all this. But I have all autumn …

    Cheers,
    Michael
