I have css already on my parent theme, is it just a case of copy and paste the css from the parent theme to the child theme. I activated the child theme and moved the css to the style.css of the child theme but my css didn’t take effect on the site. dean June 7, 2012 at 7:52 pm #5232 Jamie MarslandKeymaster Hi Dean, You don’t copy the parent css file to the child theme. Just leave the parent css in the parent theme. But any css modifications you make put in the child theme css not in the parent theme css. Jamie June 8, 2012 at 9:35 am #5336 –Member When I activate the child theme all of the css from the parent theme is lost. so I pasted the code into the child theme and the css is still not working in the child theme. The css works in the parent theme, but when I copy the same css into the child theme it doesn’t work. dean June 8, 2012 at 9:44 am #5337 Jamie MarslandKeymaster Hi Dean, What Theme are you using? When you activate the child theme it should just have a blank .css file that you put your changes into. When you say that all of the css from the parent theme is lost do you mean that the website (when viewed) doesn’t have any style? Jamie June 8, 2012 at 9:52 am #5338 –Member Hi Jamie. All sorted. I changed the nav css on the parent theme, but didn’t add top navigation in the child theme menus. It’s working now. thanks dean June 8, 2012 at 9:54 am #5339 Jamie MarslandKeymaster Great :) July 2, 2014 at 3:10 pm #14511 Alice Readman StanleyMember Hello Jamie, I am trying to install the child theme to my site and it comes up with Plugin install failed. It says this plugin could not be installed. No valid plugins were found. It was a zipped file. Do you know why this happened?
