  1. Hi Jamie
    Some feedback on the local install tutorial. I decided to ditch WAMP and go with XAMPP simply because setting up multiple development sites looked more straightforward.
    XAMPP for Windows – my downloaded sample config file had
    /** MySQL hostname */
    define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); without the :8888 you mention meaning :8888 needed to be omitted from the install command

    defining /** MySQL database password */
    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ”);
    with root gave me no access to database
    remembering that the WAMP instructions had said password should be empty like this
    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ”);
    I cleared out password and all worked ok

    I also discovered that no special tweaks were needed to get Permalinks as Month and Name working correctly (this had been an issue with WAMP – resolved with your help – thanks). I’m not qualified enough to fully understand all these differences and would appreciate any comments you have, but they may be useful to others doing a local install. Is there any chance of you following up with a brief tutorial on getting a local install out to a real server sometime (especially if it’s just one of several sites being developed) ?

    1. Hi Paul,

      Great feedback thanks.

      Yes will consider a local install on real server :)

      Thanks again

      Jamie
